PGA Awards Nominations: Client Project in Running for Top Prize Again

Last year, client project CODA took home the top prize at the PGA Awards with a Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures win, and ultimately made history at the 2022 Oscars just a week later with three wins for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay. In 2021, another client project, “Nomadland,” also took home the top prize at the PGA Awards and went on to triumph at the Oscars.

On January 12th, the Producers Guild Association (PGA) announced the 2023 nominations for the motion pictures and television awards. Once again, a client project is in the running for the top prize. “The Whale,” an A24 film about a morbidly obese, reclusive English teacher attempting to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter, was nominated for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.

A24’s “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On,” also received a nomination for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures. The film, originally a book and YouTube sensation, is about an adorable 1-inch tall shell who is discovered and then filmed in a documentary that brings Marcel millions of fans and hope of finding his long-lost family.
