‘Banana Split,’ the first film from new Liverpool, New York based film company American High, will have its world premiere at the L.A. Film Festival, taking place now through September 28th. The movie is one of 40 feature-length films from 26 countries at the festival and is competing for the ‘best US fiction’ prize.
About the Film
‘Banana Split,’ the directorial debut of cinematographer Ben Kasulke, is about an unexpected female friendship during the pivotal transition between high school and college. In her last summer before college, newly single April rebounds from her breakup with Nick, her boyfriend of 2 years, by striking up an unexpected friendship with an unlikely candidate: Nick’s new girlfriend, Clara.

Jeremy Garelick, whose work includes ‘The Break-Up,’ ‘The Hangover’ and ‘The Wedding Ringer,’ teamed up with Mickey Liddell’s LD Entertainment to launch American High. The company plans to generate a slate of high school-set comedy features and shoot in a recently acquired 100,000 sq-ft high school-turned-studio in Syracuse, New York.
