Thirty years after the premiere of the original Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989), stars Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves have confirmed they will reprise their title roles in the upcoming Bill & Ted Face the Music. This will be the third feature film in the Bill & Ted franchise, along with the 1991 sequel Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.
The pair thanked fans for their support in a video announcing the project:
Further maintaining continuity, the original writing team of Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon will pen the script for the third installment. Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest, Fun with Dick and Jane) has been brought in to direct what will be his first movie since RED 2 in 2013. Parisot has been busy directing episodes of several popular TV shows including the Emmy winner Justified and Netflix hit Grace & Frankie.
Bill & Ted Face the Music will pick up the story of California bandmates turned time travelers Bill S. Preston Esq. (Winters) and Ted Theodore Logan (Reeves), now middle-aged dads. Their band Wyld Stallyns has yet to produce the hit song that was prophesized to bring about a utopian society. Will they finally fulfill their destiny as saviors of the universe?
The film is produced by Hammerstone Studios and Dial 9 Entertainment. Additional cast is yet to be announced but based on the enduring cult status of the originals, nostalgic Hollywood stars are sure to make themselves available for cameos.
GreenSlate is delighted to provide production payroll services for this exciting project, slated to hit theaters in the summer of 2020.
